World’s oldest man, a Japanese, dies aged 112

July 7, Tokyo: Sakari Momoi, World‘s oldest man, a retired educator from Japan, has died on Sunday at a nursing home in Tokyo, an official said on Tuesday. He was 112.

Momoi died from kidney failure, said Saitama city official Aya Kato. He was born on February 5, 1903, in northern Japan‘s Fukushima prefecture, where he became a teacher. He later moved to Saitama, north of Tokyo, and served as a high school principal until his retirement.

Momoi was certified by Guinness Book of World Records as the World‘s oldest man in August 2014, when he was 111.
