Truck hits religious procession in Mexico, leaves 16 dead 


July 30, Mexico City: At least 16 people have been killed and 30 other injured when a truck went out of control after apparently losing its brakes and slammed into a religious procession on the main street of a central Mexico town Wednesday.

A statement by the government of the north-central state of Zacatecas said that heavy truck was carrying building materials when it ran into the group of local Catholics the accident in Mazapil.

Authorities said that such processions were common in Mexico to celebrate a saint’s day or special religious occasion.
