Syrian general assassinated by Israel: US

July 16, New York: Brigadier General Mohammed Sleiman, a top aide to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was murdered by Israeli commandos in 2008, a US intelligence file disclosed.

Sleiman was shot in the head and neck by Israeli commandos in a dinner party at his seaside home on the Syrian coast. The Intercept online cited the leaked files saying that the Israeli commandos escaped into sea after the murder.

“The internal National Security Agency document, provided by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, is the first official confirmation that the assassination of Sleiman was an Israeli military operation,” said the website.

This revelation has ended the speculation about the murder of his death due to internal disputes in Syrian government.
