Malaria vaccination approved for the first time

July 24, London: Mosquirix the World’s first malaria vaccine receives green light to be used on babies. European regulators have recommended the use of the vaccine on babies who are at high risk of mosquito borne diseases.

The shot is called RTS,S or Mosquirix, is the first licensed human vaccine against that could help prevent millions of cases of malaria in countries that use it.

The vaccine was developed by British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in partnership with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative.
