Environmental activists protestors to pay $2,500
July 31, Portland: Environmental activists protesting in Portland, Oregon have been ordered to pay $2,500 for blocking the Royal Dutch Shell icebreaker ship. The federal judge ordered protestors to pay the amount for every hour they block ship.
The Royal Dutch Shell icebreaker was prevented from leaving port for hours.
Greenpeace campaigners were protesting against allowing the icebreaker to join a US Arctic oil-drilling operation. It was in the Portland for repairs. Police have finally removed the protestors from the bridge in Portland.
