139 bodies found in suspected migrant graves in Malaysia

May 28 Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Authorities on Thursday stated that they have reasons to believe 139 people had been buried in the graves found at detention camps believed to have been used by human traffickers transporting Rohingya migrants from Myanmar.

According to, Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said  that each grave site contained the remains of one person, not multiple bodies as suspected previously.”Based on the size of the graves, and after the area was cleared… we have a clearer indication, single grave, single person,” Jaafar was quoted telling news wires. He further added that the bodies were wrapped in white cloth. “It is like the Muslim burial … some are shallow graves, not all.”

Earlier today, Jaafar, in a statement stated that they already arrested four police officers since the probe began last year.He further added that the eight other police officers have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for involvement in human trafficking.
