London, Paris and Berlin Cool; Southern Europe Stays Hot

July 29, 2015,Oslo: As the jet stream dips farther south through midweek, an area of low pressure spinning over southern Scandinavia will result in cool and showery weather across much of northern Europe, Accu Weather reported on Thursday.

According to the meteorological center, below-normal temperatures will span from the United Kingdom through much of France, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. Along with this shots of cooler air, daily showers are expected across the region through  Thursday. “Even though showers are possible through midweek, much of the time will be dry with clouds and some sunshine for locations such as Dublin, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin,” said AccuWeather in a statement issued on Thursday. High temperatures will reach 20 C (68 F) in London through Thursday. Similar high temperatures are expected in both Paris and Berlin. “Showers will become more limited the farther south you go, but the cooler air will be welcomed across southern France, northern Italy and parts of eastern Europe where heat has been entrenched for much of July.”

Meanwhile, another storm will then target the United Kingdom and Ireland with rainfall from Friday into the weekend, while the rest of northern Europe can expect generally dry and milder weather.

Farther south, scorching heat will continue across Spain, much of Italy and the Balkan Peninsula through the middle of the week. The heat will be dangerous during the afternoon hours, and anyone that must be outdoors should drink plenty of liquid and limit strenuous activities. And,a long-awaited relief from the heat is expected across Spain on Friday and Saturday. In Madrid, the high temperature is expected to be around 32 C (90 F) both days. If the temperature fails to reach 32 C (90 F), it will be the first time since June 25 when the high was 31.5 C (88.7 F).

Temperatures will begin to climb across Spain on Sunday, and another stretch of extreme heat is expected during the first half of next week.
