70 government troops killed in major attack by IS extremist:Syria 


May 14,Amman:A human rights monitor said on Wednesday that IS extremist killed at least 70 government troops in a major attack by the militant group on Syrian army-held areas in the Central Syrian province of Homs and 40 militants were also killed.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which tracks extremism and violence across the country, had prior said 30 government fighters and 20 extremists died in the wild battling in eastern zones of Homs area taking after an Islamic State ambush on government strengths.

Islamic State said in an announcement that it had seized al Sukhna, a town nearly 300 km (190 miles) upper east of Damascus, in a move that issues it control over a key expressway connecting the area of Homs with Deir al-Zor region in northeastern Syria.

The hard-line fundamentalist group additionally asserted it had shot down a Syrian MiG plane in the territory. The armed force has not remarked on the improvements in al-Sukhna but rather said it had executed scores of extremist in overwhelming bombarding of their positions in Homs and the city of Tadmr.(Reuters)
